Company Indicted Disputes Allegations

(East Providence, RI)  --  The East Providence-based cleaning company named in a human trafficking indictment in Massachusetts is responding to the allegations. Charges against Fernando Roland of New Bedford and Martins Maintenance were announced by Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey on Monday. The indictment alleges two people were forced to work for the company below minimum wage, and one of the victims was forced to complete household chores at Roland's residence. A spokesperson for Martins Maintenance tells WPRI-TV Roland worked for a subcontractor, and that the company had no knowledge of any wrongdoing.
