(Providence, RI) -- The Rhode Island House and Senate both passed so-called "red flag" laws impacting gun ownership on Thursday. The bill makes it easier for police to take guns away from those who are at a high risk of killing themselves or someone else. Both chambers passed the matching bills with overwhelming support, and also passed a ban on bump stocks, the device used by the suspect in the Las Vegas hotel shooting of 2017. Governor Gina Raimondo is expected to sign the measures on Friday.
