(Providence, RI) -- Providence's longest-serving city councilman is not on the ballot for this year's election. The Providence Board of Canvassers says Terrence Hassett only got 47 of the required 50 citizen signatures before the deadline. Hassett had represented Ward 12 since 1997. That gives newcomer Katherine Kerwin an apparent clear path to being elected, with no other names on the ballot.
