Trainer Linked To Death Of Dog Shares Letter

(Undated)  --  The trainer facing charges following the death of former New England Patriot Jerod Mayo's dog is speaking out for the first time following the incident.  Amelia Ferreira is not facing animal cruelty charges after the English bulldog, named Knox, was reportedly found dead in her Cranston home, but is facing charges for allegedly lying to Wrentham, Massachusetts police, telling them initially that the dog escaped.  Ferreira declined an interview but has shared a letter with WPRI-TV saying she was a coward for not being honest about what actually happened.  She said on June 23rd, she pulled Knox from his crate and found him unresponsive, but she doesn't say anything in the letter about what happened next.  Police and the Rhode Island SPCA say Ferreira put the dog's body in a trash bag and left it in her back yard.
