(Woonsocket, RI) -- Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin is concluding that police who were involved in a shootout with a suspect in Woonsocket last month complied with state law regarding the use of deadly force. The AG's office says Sergeant Matthew Richardson and four patrol officers exchanged fire with Tyler Chandler of Portsmouth after he was allegedly spotted carrying a gun in the early morning hours of July 2nd. The incident ended with a standoff and an arrest, but not before one of the officers, Travis Young, was wounded in the firefight. It's estimated that almost 50 rounds of ammunition were fired between the officers and Chandler, who was determined to be not competent to stand trial back on July 31st.
