(Coventry, RI) -- The Coventry Police Department says it is conducting its own investigation into Eric Lindsey, the man arrested for shooting at police in Attleboro on Monday. The police department said in a Facebook post that Lindsey, a Coventry resident, is known to the CPD for several recent violent altercations that have led to his arrest, including one where he attempted to take an officer's gun and another where he fought with several officers. Lindsey is facing numerous charges stemming from the Monday incident, including two counts of firearm-armed assault to murder, after he allegedly opened fire on cops when they located him near a church on Newport Avenue. The incident had started when police were called about an armed man sitting in the church.
