(Providence, RI) -- The summer of 2018 was the fourth-hottest summer recorded in Providence, dating back to 1905, according to the National Weather Service. This year now holds the city's warmest month of August, when two daily high-temperature records were tied and two record maximum low temps were broken, weather service reports indicate. Meteorologists consider summer to consist of the months of June, July and August. A September high temperature record will be approached on Thursday, when forecasters say it's supposed to reach 93 degrees.
