(Pawtucket, RI) -- The Pawtucket Police Department is identifying the three officers who were involved in a fatal shooting on Friday. Police say DaShawn Cole attacked Officer Ana Vertentes when she tried to make contact with him on Newport Avenue after someone had called police to say they saw a man with a gun on his belt. After Vertentes discharged her firearm during the struggle, the department says officers William Briggs and Dianne Rittman-McLaughlin arrived on the scene and opened fire, although it's not made clear which one struck Cole. Vertentes, Rittman-McLaughlin and Briggs are all on paid administrative leave while the shooting is being investigated.
