(South Kingstown, RI) -- A former Providence police officer who was previously convicted of domestic violence charges is facing new similar offenses. John Black was arrested on Thursday by South Kingstown police after allegedly assaulting his wife and pointing a gun at his own head. Black was reportedly found on his boat in a marina on Wednesday night, was convinced to come ashore, and then was evaluated at South County Hospital. Police reported confiscating several firearms, ammunition, and Black's police badge and ID from his home.
