(Providence, RI) -- A Newport teenager is dead after a shooting in Providence on Saturday, the ninth homicide in the city this year. The Providence Police Department says a gunman ran into a parking lot outside of the Lockwood Plaza housing complex on Prairie Avenue and opened fire, striking the 19-year-old from Newport and also a Providence man, who was injured in the incident. No known motive is being suggested for the shooting, but police believe the victims were targeted.
