(Providence, RI) -- No arrests were made and no serious injuries were reported during a clash of protesters organizing a "Freedom Rally" and counter-protesters at the State House on Saturday, but state police with riot gear had to separate the two sides. State police superintendent Colonel Ann Assumpico said authorities had a contingency plan in place based on the events of a similar rally, which took place in August. In that event, also organized by the right-wing group Resist Marxism, an individual was seen taunting a police horse and at least one arrest was made. The rally this past weekend saw someone apparently set off a fire extinguisher, which allegedly made contact with a police officer.
