(Lincoln, RI) -- The National Weather Service is updating its documentation of a tornado event in Rhode Island on Tuesday. The weather service says the tornado initially touched down in North Providence as an EF-0 scale, and from there, damage was discontinuous with only a few treetops snapped and downed branches as the tornado headed toward the southwest part of Lincoln. Meteorologists say in Lincoln, the twister upgraded to an EF-1 with wind speeds of 90 to 100 miles per hour, causing extensive damage on a couple of streets, before it went back down to an EF-0 and lifted. The entire event lasted less than five minutes. The same storm cell later produced an EF-1 tornado in Norton, Massachusetts.
