(Providence, RI) -- Notorious convicted sex offender Richard Gardner is back behind bars. Gardner, who moved into a Providence house last month after being released from a decades-long prison sentence, was arrested on Friday on a Cranston Police Department warrant for allegedly writing the wrong address on his marriage license application last month. He's scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on a probation violation charge on Monday. The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island criticized the arrest, saying it represents a disturbing abuse of police power and an unfair "ends justifies the means" mentality.
