(Providence, RI) -- Rhode Island Treasurer Seth Magaziner is calling for more education on the topic of personal finance instruction in Rhode Island public schools. Magaziner said in a paper published this month that Rhode Islanders often face major financial decisions at a young age. He notes there are 36 states that guarantee access to personal finance education in their public school curriculum, but that Rhode Island is not one of them. He wants the Department of Education in the state to make the class mandatory starting with the class of 2022.
