(Warren, RI)--The winning candidate in a Democratic primary race for an East Bay seat in the House of Representatives is moving on to a general election.June Speakman, a professor at Roger Williams University, defeated former Bristol Town Council member Richard Ruggiero on Tuesday for the House District 68 seat that was set to be filled by incoming new state rep Laufton Ascencao.He decided not to take the seat after admitting to lying about helping a group of Democrats in Warren during a campaign.Speakman will now face three more candidates in a special election on March 5th.
