(Bristol, RI)--The New York City detective who was killed in the line of duty this week had a Rhode Island connection.Brian Simonsen graduated from Roger Williams University in 1999.University board of trustees chairman Tim Baxter said the tragic loss of an alumnus of RWU hits close to home.Simonsen was reportedly hit by friendly fire while responding to a robbery on Tuesday night.
