(Providence, RI)--The State House was the site of a rally on Tuesday to increase awareness about the 2020 U.S. Census, which is starting in one year. The Complete Count Committee is working to have every Rhode Islander participate in the census, including the hard-to-count demographic, which makes up a sizable percentage of the state's population.State Senator Sandra Cano said at the rally that she knows of many people who are scared to respond due to the rhetoric coming out of Washington; President Trump earlier this week slammed Democrats for trying to keep a citizenship question off the census to get more immigrants to reply. But, Cano noted that a count that is too low could result in the state losing a congressional seat and federal dollars.
