Route 95 Viaduct Bond Bill Passes Senate

(Providence, RI)--The Rhode Island Senate is approving up to two-hundred-million dollars in bonds for work on the Interstate 95 viaduct in Providence.State officials said earlier this year that the Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle bonds, known as GARVEE bonds, were requested so that funding for the project could happen more quickly than the time it would take to get the state budget approved.The state rebuilt the I-95 southbound viaduct in 2017 and is now focusing on the structurally-deficient, congested northbound side.The bond bill moves to the House.
