(Providence, RI)--A federal judge is dismissing a lawsuit filed by a Rhode Island State Police trooper.James Donnelly-Taylor claimed his rights were violated by the state attorney general's office and former RISP Superintendent Steven O'Donnell when they refused to defend him in a civil suit that was brought on after he admitted to assaulting a man in police custody. The suit by Donnelly-Taylor is being dismissed on the grounds that the state court system has already ruled that the A.G.'s office had the right under state law not to defend him.
