New Jersey-based Quest Diagnostics – one of the biggest blood testing companies in the U.S – says as many as 12-million customers may have had their personal information exposed online.
What kind of “personal information?: Quest says that the user may have credit card and bank account information, along with Social Security numbers as well as medical data.
Apparently, a bill-collecting vendor American Medical Collection Agency (AMCA), that works for Quest says an "unauthorized user" had access to its system for close to a year before they made the realization back in late March.
- A firm representing AMCA has issued a statementsaying AMCA has hired an “external forensics” company to investigate the breach and “retained additional experts,” and notified law enforcement of the incident.
