U.S. Customs and Border Protection is investigating what it calls "disturbing social media activity" on a Facebook group that may include a number of Border Patrol employees.
The website, Pro Publica, has issued a disturbing report on the group. The report claims the group has about 95-hundred members who have joked about migrant deaths and made crude comments and posts about Latino members of Congress - such as NY Rep.Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez- visiting a detention center. There have also been sexually violent and demeaning memes about AOC.
The group is reportedly called "I'm 10-15," which is Border Patrol code for "aliens in custody." So far, a statement from Border Patrol says employees are expected to adhere to the organization's code of conduct, both on and off duty.
- Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost said the posts are, quote, "completely inappropriate and contrary to the honor and integrity I see and expect from our agents day in and day out." She promised any employee who violates the organization's standards of conduct will be held accountable.
