(Cranston, RI)--Rhode Island's first "adaptive gym" is being opened in Cranston.A ribbon-cutting was held for the gym at the Park Avenue YMCA on Tuesday.Professional boxer Gary Balletto was injured in 2013 while training for American Ninja Warrior and was paralyzed from the chest down, and said he realized during his rehab effort that there is a significant need for gym facilities for people like him with spinal cord injuries.Specially-trained staff will be available to help people safely use the gym's equipment.
