The Trump administration is arguing to the Supreme Court that LGBT workers are not protected by federal civil rights laws. Last week, the White House filed anamicus briefarguing that it's legal to discriminate workers because of their sexual orientation.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear three cases this fall that look at LGBTQ workers' rights. White House attorneys are arguing that Title VII [[seven]] of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 does not bar discrimination because of sexual orientation. For those who don't know, that law prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin.
To review, Two of the three cases the top court is expected to consider in the fall involve gay men who were fired from their jobs because of their sexual orientation. The third case involves a transgender woman after notifying her employer that she was starting her gender transition.
