Chelsea Handler sat down with Jada Pinkett Smith and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, to discuss White privilege on this week’s edition of Red Table Talk. In case you missed it, she recently delved into the subject on her Netflix documentary, “Hello, Privilege. It’s Me, Chelsea.”
The comedienne knows for a fact that she’s benefitted from being a White person. For instance, she feels like she’s been rewarded for bad behavior when her Black friends haven’t. In addition, she acknowledges that she can spend time with her Black friends in their world, but it’s not reciprocal.
As for a solution, Chelsea feels that White people need to not only realize that the privilege exists, but understand that it’s up to them to fix.
