Trump Suspends Entry Of Immigrants Who Can't Pay For Healthcare

President Trump is suspending the entry of immigrants who cannot pay for healthcare. Trump signed a proclamation on Friday that suspends the entry of immigrants who will not be covered by health insurance within 30 days of entering the U.S., or who do not have the means to pay for healthcare themselves.

One note, the proclamation says not being covered for insurance won’t affect an immigrant's eligibility for asylum or refugee status – and that it applies only to people seeking entry with an immigrant visa. The measure will take effect on November 3rd.

Of course, there are detractors. "This administration is just fixated on the erroneous notion that immigrants are zapping taxpayer resources," says Doug Rand, a former White House official under President Obama. "So, they are kind of looking under every rock they possible can for any way to exclude people who aren't wealthy."
