Tomorrow, Americans across the country can safely return unwanted prescriptions for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The Drug Enforcement Agency holds the event annually to "provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs." The event aims to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths across the nation. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs and a majority were obtained from family and friends, often from a home medicine cabinet.
The DEA is also, for the first time, accepting vaping cartridges and devices. If you hand in one, take the battery out first.
Visit the DEA's website to find a collection site closest to you.
