If Millennials have their way, Democracy may be a thing of the past in the US soon.
A new survey by the non-profit Victims of Communism asked, through YouGov, questions about communism, socialism, and capitalism. Here are the findings among people ages 23 to 38.
- 36-percent say they approve of communism
- 70-percent will likely vote socialist (that’s doubled from last year)
- 22-percent believe society would be better off if private property was abolished
- 45-percent think higher education should be free
- The biggest threat (across all age groups) to the world is: 27-percent President Trump, 22-percent North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un and 15-percent Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
Marion Smith, executive director of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, is troubled by the findings of the poll. “The historical amnesia about the dangers of communism and socialism is on full display in this year’s report. When we don’t educate our youngest generations about the historical truth of 100 million victims murdered at the hands of communist regimes over the past century, we shouldn’t be surprised at their willingness to embrace Marxist ideas.”
Me? I'm independent in my political beliefs but as a millennial I must stand to ask Marion Smith, how many victims have been murdered in the name of Democracy?
