Trump Doesn’t Rule Out Government Shutdown

While Capitol Hill is consumed by all things impeachment, something else pretty important is looming: a possible government shutdown.

On Sunday, President Trump signaled that he would be fine with the government shuttering its doors. When asked if he’s committed to avoiding a pre-Thanksgiving shutdown, Trump said "I wouldn’t commit to anything. It depends on what the negotiations are."

The House is on a 10-day recess, so they’ll only have eight to strike a deal with the Senate and get it to the president by the November 21 deadline. There are 12 appropriations bills that need to be ironed out or they could do a stop gap spending measure. The defense funding bill will be the biggest issue, as Democrats refuse to vote for it if there is border wall money tacked on. Which there is.
