(North Smithfield, RI)--The Rhode Island ACLU says it is settling a lawsuit against the North Smithfield Police Department.The ACLU says the police department had refused to remove from its files a note falsely claiming a resident, Jason Richer, was dangerous, but says that note has now been removed.The civil rights group says the note was uncovered during another suit against the police department over the seizure of lawfully-possessed weapons from Richer.
