(Providence, RI)--Action was taken on legislation covering guns and marijuana in Rhode Island on Tuesday. The House and Senate Judiciary Committees both approved a bill that repeals a General Assembly veto for marijuana regulations. The bill originally aimed to block Governor Gina Raimondo's administration from banning a half-dozen proposed new compassion centers from growing their own cannabis, but it was amended. On the firearm front, the House Judiciary Committee voted 9-to-5 in favor of legislation to require Rhode Island gun dealers to send applications for weapon purchases to the buyer's hometown police chief.
