SUNDAY CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: 230 New Cases. Death Toll Hits 150.

Here are the latest details regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in Rhode Island, as reported in Governor Gina Raimondo's daily press briefing:

  • New cases: 230. Total now 4,706
  • New deaths: 13. Total now 150. (Ages range 60's to 90's)
  • Over 34,000 people tested
  • 45% of all cases are among the Latino community. Governor Raimondo says the state is working on an awareness advertising campaign using Spanish language media.
  • First drive-up and walk-up COVID-19 test site in Providence opening at Robert L Bailey Elementary School on Gordon Avenue in Providence. Test participants must be referred by a health care provider.
  • Compliance with executive order mandating face coverings in public is going well. State regulators visited over 200 businesses on Saturday, the first day that the order was in effect and were pleased wit results.
  • The only weak spot in compliance is with drive-thru restaurants. All customers at drive-thru service windows should be wearing face coverings.
  • Clarifying her executive order, the governor says that all customers must wear face masks while inside a business.
