(Providence, RI)--Republican members of the Rhode Island House on Wednesday called for the House Oversight Committee to meet regarding the impact of the coronavirus on nursing homes in the state.The request was for the committee to convene with or without permission from House leadership.House Minority Leader Blake Filippi said the committee needs to urgently review Governor Gina Raimondo's administration's response to the pandemic in nursing homes, which have made up the majority of virus-related deaths in the Ocean State.Raimondo defended her team's response yesterday, while Democratic House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello said House and Senate leadership already decided to form a joint task force for oversight of the public health crisis, including the chair of the House Oversight Committee, which has met and will continue to meet.
