RI School District Budget Grows, But Not Because Of Taxpayers

(Barrington, RI) -- One Rhode Island School District is expecting more money in next year's budget, but it will barely be coming out of taxpayer's pockets. The Barrington School Department's budget is set to grow by two-and-half-million dollars. School officials are proposing a one-point-one percent increase to the tax levy while a nearly 38-percent increase in the state's school funding formula will cover most of it. The just one-percent jump is the smallest increase in the last five years.
