(New Shoreham, RI) -- A 24-year veteran state trooper is the new police chief on Block Island. Captain Matthew Moynihan has been on loan as the interim chief of the New Shoreham Police Department since March first. He's retiring from the Rhode Island State Police and will be sworn-in as chief early next month.
