(Providence, RI) -- An investigation is underway after a suspect dies during an altercation with Providence Police officers. Yesterday, officers responded and found 34-year old Joseph Ventre screaming and rolling around in a field near Collyer Street at 12:30-a.m. First responders arrived and took Ventre to Rhode Island Hospital where he died. Drugs are suspected to have played a role in Ventre's erratic behavior and possibly in his death. State Police and the state Attorney General's office are in charge of the investigation of the case.
