The Rhode Island Department of Health has reported its first human case of West Nile virus in 2021.
The state says the patient was a Providence County resident in their 50s who reported regular trips between RI and Massachusetts.
Neither state narrows down identities any more than that.
The last human case of West Nile in Rhode Island was in 2018.
