Governor McKee has signed the Student Success Act into law.
It grants in-state college tuition rates to all residents regardless of their immigration status.
The governor says children are the future and their education is important for the success of Rhode Island's workforce and economy.
He says that the law is a statement about opportunity than it is about immigration.
According to the Governor- students will have to graduate from a state high school and live in Rhode Island as well.
