Five Rhode Island communities are each getting over 100-thousand-dollars in federal funding to hire more police officers.
The grant comes from the US Justice Department and is geared toward increasing rank and file cops in needy communities.
The recipients are North Providence, Richmond, Smithfield, Scituate and Tiverton.
