The Division of Motor vehicles launched a license plate design contest today.
The winning design will replace the "wave" plates that have been used for the last 25 years.
Designs must be an image that visually represents the state of Rhode Island
The deadline for submissions is January 7th.
Five finalists will be selected and those are the ones that will be voted on by the public.
