The latest coronavirus update for Rhode Island includes over 36-hundred new cases and nine more deaths. As of yesterday, 532 people were hospitalized with 44 of them in intensive care. The state's positive test rate on Wednesday was 12-and-a-half-percent.
The number of coronavirus cases at the state prison in Cranston has more than doubled in less than a week. The latest numbers from the Department of Corrections included 474 inmates and 88 staff infected as of Tuesday. The Providence Journal reported a prison spokesperson says infected prisoners are placed in a separate housing module.
