Race For Lengevin Seat Heating Up

The founder of a Rhode Island based refugee assistance group says he's making a run for U.S. Congress.Omar Bah says he'll run for the Congressional seat that will be open following the announcement that U.S. Representative Jim Langevin isn't running for re-election.

The 42-year old founder of Providence's Refugee Dream Center, who himself came here as a refugee, says he'll run as a Democrat to represent that state's 2nd congressional district.

Bah says in Congress he plans to work on issues of housing, healthcare, crime, education, climate change and more.

He would also become Rhode Island's first African American member of the U.S. House of Representatives, if elected.

Meantime, WPRI TV is reporting that State Senator Sen. Jessica de la Cruz has decided to enter the race for Congress.

And, the State General Treasurer Seth Magaziner- in a statement says that he is considering whether he is running for the seat. He is already in the race for Governor.He has not set a timetable for when he will make up his mind.
