Outgoing Rhode Island Department of Health director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott is transitioning into a consulting role with the state.
The doctor will earn nearly fifty-thousand dollars per month on the temporary contract to advise the state on the COVID-19 pandemic and the merger of the two-largest RI healthcare systems.
Alexander-Scott is considered a potential candidate to run for Congress.
She says her focus right now is on the many important issues before the health department, but that she is weighing a number of options for the future.
She does not speculate on when she may decide what her next job may be.
