Providence Schools Keep Masks On

Providence Public Schools is keeping its mask mandate in place. 

Education Commissioner Angelia Infante-Green announced the move while also saying students will be have a staggered return from February break. 

The Commissioners says it's important for students to get tested and vaccinated for COVID. 

Only about a third of the students in the Providence School system are vaccinated against the virus.

That compares to about a 50 percent of the students statewide who are vaccinated.

According to officials- Pre K- K 1,6,9 and 12 wil come back to class after the winter break on February 28th. 

Grades 2,3,7 and 10 on March 1st. 

Everyone else returns on March 2nd. 

The state is ending its mask mandate March 4th but local school districts can still make their own rules.
