Former Rhode Island governor Gina Raimondo was the designated survivor of President Biden's cabinet during his State of the Union speech on Tuesday.
Raimondo, now serving as the United States Secretary of Commerce, did not attend Biden's address but instead watched it from a secure location in the event of a catastrophe.
Presidents usually rotate the so called "designated survivor" among cabinet members.
Meantime, Raimondo is returning to Rhode Island later this month.
Brown University announced on Monday that she will be delivering a lecture on the campus March 15th.
