No Injuries As Newport Cliff Walk Collapses

The city of Newport says a stretch of the famous Cliff Walk collapsed into the ocean on Thursday.

Officials say the affected portion of the Cliff Walk near Salve Regina University will be closed for the foreseeable future.

No injuries were reported, but the State Police used a cadaver dog to make sure there was no one underneath the debris.

Officials blame erosion for the collapse.

Repairs will be made but it is unclear when the repairs will be made or how long it will take.
