Friars Await Tournament Bid After Surprise Loss To Creighton

It was not the night that the Providence Friars Men's Basketball team was looking for.

In the Big East, Creighton, the number four seed went of a 31 to 2 late in the first half to the second half to beat the Friars 85-58.

But, although they will not win the Big East Championship this year, the Friars, 25-5 will be alive for the Big Dance, NCAA Tournament.

Al Durham led all scorers with 21 points for the Friars.

Creighton went on a 15-0 scoring run and a 31 to 2 run to ice the victory in the second half.

Providence shot almost 28 percent from the field. Just 16 percent from the three point line and 62 percent from the charity stripe.

Creighton shot almost 52 percent from the field. 50 percent from the three point line and 62 percent from the free throw line.

Now, the team will wait until Sunday night when they learn who they will play in the NCAA Tournament.
