Cooley Takes Home National Coach Of The Year Award

Providence College men's basketball coach Ed Cooley has been named the Naismith College Coach of the Year.

“Ed’s undeniable coaching acumen has been evident throughout his team’s historic 2021-22 season, and we’re thrilled to recognize him as the 2022 Werner Ladder Naismith Men’s Coach of the Year,” said Eric Oberman, executive director of the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

Cooley led the Friars to their first-ever Big East Conference regular season championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

He is the first PC head coach to win the award.

Three weeks ago he was selected as The Big East Coach of the Year.

Cooley next year will enter his 12th season in the program. He has a 221-141 record with the Friars and ranks second all-time in wins.
