The first case of highly contagious bird flu is detected in Rhode Island.
Authorities say a great black-backed seagull was found sick on a South Kingston beach late last month and tested positive for the avian flu.
The test was confirmed this week.
Chances of contracting bird flu is low for humans but officials say it's best for people to stay away from dead birds and keep their dogs away as well.
