The State Transportation isn’t saying why specifically, but they do say that the re-numbering of state highways exits, that was to start this weekend on I-95 has been delayed for one week.
The re-numbering is a federal mandate, required if state’s wish to continue to tap into federal transportation funding.
The new system aligns an exit number with the corresponding mile marker.
RI-DOT says that renumbering will be delayed a week and start next weekend and not this.
