Cranston state Representative Charlene Lima plans to submit a bill regarding police staffing on Block Island.
It would allow the state to control the level of police protection on the island and on the Block Island Ferry.
Lima says the recent violent incidents at Ballard's Beach Resort and on the ferry.
She blames New Shoreham officials for refusing to pay for increased State Police during the busy summer season.
So far Governor McKee has not commented on the measure.
